TRANSPORTATION TO PERHENTIAN ISLANDS
Perhentian Islands are connected via boat, road, rail and air transportation system from cites and towns throughout Malaysia. The best route from your location is to get straight to Kuala Besut Jetty by road (bus/shuttle/self drive), and then proceed to Perhentian Island by boat.
If there is no direct transport service from your departure points to Kuala Besut Jetty, get either to Kota Bharu or Kuala Terangganu or Jerteh. From there, continue your journey to Kuala Besut Jetty and then embark your trip to Pulau Perhentian.

1.TRANSPORTATION BY TRAIN
The intercity railway network in Peninsular Malaysia consists of two main lines: The KTM West Coast Line between Singapore and Padang Besar, Perlis, on the Malaysian-Thai border, and the KTM East Coast Line between Gemas in Negeri Sembilan and Tumpat in Kelantan.
From Cities in West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia
From cities in West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia such as Butterworth or Bukit Mertajam in Penang or Pandang Besar or Arau in Perlis, or any other cities, you need to embark on KTM West Coast Line and get to KL Sentral (the Interchange). Then from KL Sentral take the train to Gemas (the Interchange from KTM West Coast Line to KTM East Coast Line).
From Gemas embark on KTM East Coast Line and disembark at Tanah Merah Station (the nearest station to Kuala Besut Jetty). From Tanah Merah Station, take a taxi or public bus to Kuala Besut Jetty with estimated 45-60 minutes journey.
From Cities in South and East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia
From cities in South such as Johor Bahru and East Coast such as Jerantut, you need to embark on KTM East Coast Line. The KTM East Coast Line start from Gemas (the Interchange) and disembark at Tanah Merah Station (the nearest station to Kuala Besut Jetty). From Tanah Merah Station, take a taxi or public bus to Kuala Besut Jetty with estimated 45-60 minutes journey.
2.TRANSPORT BY AEROPLANE
The one airports close to Kuala Besut Jetty. They are Kota Bharu airports. You can fly from a few main airports in Malaysia to the both cities.

3.BOAT TO & FROM PERHENTIAN ISLANDS

From Kuala Besut Jetty, continue your journey by boat to Pulau Perhentians. It takes about 30 – 45 minutes by speed boat and 1 hr 30 min by cargo boat. The services are available between 9:00am to 5:00pm with no fixed departure time. (Some service providers depart in every an hour).
The boats embark once, there are sufficient number of passengers on board. The boat take you directly to your destination on the island. The return boats from Pulau Perhentian to Kuala Besut Jetty are scheduled three (3) times a day. The boats depart from the island at 8:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 4:00 pm every day.
